Reflection Prompt: Summarize your learning for this term. How will you use the knowledge you have constructed to improve your use of technology for learning in your class and for your own personal and professional development?
Description:This past semester I have gained an indepth knowledge of the ISTE standards, as well as the concept of TPACK. Before beginning this course I had very little knowledge of the content of the ISTE standards and what TPACK was all about. I have learned that TPACK is the intertwined relationship between technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge. The ISTE standards are technology standards that were created with several different strands: the NETS for teachers, students, coaches, administrators, and technology faciliatators and leaders.
Impact:Through learning about the ISTE standards and TPACK I have been able to evaluate my current teaching practices. At the beginning of this journey I used the Pre-Admission Competency Verification to set a stage for my current knowledge level. From that point, I have been able to evaluate my strengths and weaknesses in implementing and leading technology within my classroom and school. I have also been able to make goals for myself that are aligned with the ISTE standards and TPACK.
Intent: I will continue to enhance my knowledge and understanding of TPACK and the ISTE standards through reading, research, and discussion with my colleagues. I plan to continue to align my teaching strategies and projects with these two important pieces. I plan to also share my knowledge of TPACK and ISTE standards with the administration of my current school district as we look into the future changes within education. My goal is that by sharing this information with the administration, a better outlook and emphasis when considering technology will come forth.
